Con una conferencia en el Centro Beit Zatoun dio inicio en Toronto la visita que realizan a esta ciudad las Miembros del Ejecutivo de la Federación de Mujeres Cubanas, Arelys Santana Bellos y Maritzel González Quevedo, Segunda Secretaria y Funcionaria de Relaciones Internacionales, respectivamente. Organizada por el Toronto Forum on Cuba, con el apoyo de la Asociación de Cubanos Residentes en Toronto “Juan Gualberto Gómez”, las federadas cubanas expusieron el rol de las mujeres en la Revolución cubana, lo que permitió a los participantes conocer y debatir sobre los logros alcanzados en este campo desde 1959, los desafíos que enfrentan en la actualidad y cómo la Organización responde a las necesidades de la mujer en los diferentes ámbitos de la sociedad. Estuvieron presentes además, el académico e intelectual canadiense, Profesor Keith Ellis, Javier Dómokos Ruíz, Cónsul General de Cuba en Toronto y Raúl Delgado Concepción, Cónsul.
El conversatorio permitió abordar otros temas como el papel de la FMC en la lucha por la Liberación de nuestros 5 Héroes, la heroica resistencia de la mujer cubana al genocida Bloqueo yanqui y los porcientos de representatividad de la mujer cubana en la sociedad.
Esta semana continuarán desarrollando otras actividades previstas en la agenda de su visita a esta ciudad que incluyen contactos con organizaciones femeninas de protección de la mujer y la niñez, de solidaridad con Cuba, entre otras.

A HIGH LEVEL DELEGATION FROM THE CUBAN WOMEN FEDERATION BEGINS VISIT TO CANADA
Toronto, September 23, 2013. With a conference at Beit Zatoun Center in Toronto began the visit to this city of the Executive Members of the Federation of Cuban Women, Mrs. Arelys Santana Bellos and Mrs. Maritzel González Quevedo, Second Secretary and International Relations Officer, respectively. Organized by the Toronto Forum on Cuba, with the support of the Association of Cuban Residents in Toronto "Juan Gualberto Gómez", the Cuban visitors exposed the role of women in the Cuban Revolution, which allowed participants to understand and discuss the achievements in this field since 1959, the challenges they are facing today and how the organization responds to the needs of women in the different fields of society. Also present were the Canadian intellectual and academic, Professor Keith Ellis, Javier Ruiz Domokos, Consul General of Cuba in Toronto and Raul Delgado Concepción, Consul.
The discussion also allowed reviewing other issues such as the role of the FMC in the struggle for the liberation of our Five Heroes, the heroic resistance of the Cuban women to the genocidal US blockade and the percentages of representation of the Cuban women in the society.
This week, the visiting delegation will have a group of activities in the agenda of their visit to this city that includes contacts with women's organizations for the protection of women and children, those in solidarity with Cuba, among others.
